8:15 a.m.  A quiet service in traditional language, with sermon, without hymns. In our tradition, this service is known as “Low Mass,” in that it uses no music and it offers less ceremony than the liturgically “higher” 10:30 a.m. service. For fans of Elizabethan English, you’ll hear a plethora of thee’s and thou’s not to mention phrases like, “rendering unto thee most hearty thanks for the innumerable benefits procured unto us by the same.”

10:30 a.m.  This is our principal Eucharist with sermon, hymns and choir (not during the Summer). Our hope is that you deepen your encounter in the mystery of Christ as we express our rich liturgical heritage. Portions of the liturgy may be sung between priest and people and ceremonial accompaniments such as incense may be used to emphasize the importance of the day.

During the program year, Sunday School and Nursery care are provided by our experienced Christian Education team. A very welcoming coffee hour is held in the parish hall following the service.

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW

Baptism is offered to children, youth, and adults as an expression of our Christian life through the Episcopal tradition. To learn more or to schedule one of these in our services, contact our clergy.

Holy Communion is observed in our services every Sunday, unless clergy are not able to be present which is a rarity. We permit all baptized Christians to share in this sacrament together.

Music is an essential part of worship at St. Philip’s. We are very fortunate to have an excellent organist and choirmaster.  A key component of worship is the Bunn-Minnick organ that was installed in 1984 and retains a few of the original ranks of pipes from the church’s previous pipe organ. A tradition of ours is that church guests are encouraged to stay seated for the postlude to enjoy the beautiful music and often applaud in appreciation when it is finished.

Our choir is made up of around thirteen members at this time, leads the congregation in hymns at the 10:30 a.m. service and for special services throughout the year. There is openness among choir members to new forms of music as well as a love for the traditional, while keeping the tradition of the Anglican liturgy. There is always an open place for anyone who would like to join the choir. The choir members meet every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for choir practice and before service on Sundays. We have a small bell choir with a 3 Octave bell set that we borrowed from our local university. Our love for God and His son, Jesus Christ, is evident in all the music that we offer to the congregation.

Women's Ministry
The women of St. Philip's, Circleville, have a long history of an organized and active chapter of Episcopal Church Women (ECW). They host a number of events each year, to include: The Fem Fair - a fun evening in late Spring of enjoying one another's culinary specialties, a Rummage Sale on the first Saturday of May, quarterly Carry-In Dinners for the parish, hosting four days of Phili's Chilli for the annual Pumpkin Show in mid-October, a twice monthly Sewing Group (an ongoing mission project), providing dinners for Community Kitchen (at First Presbyterian Church), and participating in the bi-annual Community Baby Shower at the Circleville Library, as well as monthly meetings. Men's Ministry
The men of the four churches come together for a time of fellowship each and every month at our men’s breakfast. We meet every first Saturday of the month at 8:30 at a local restaurant. In addition, the men of St. Philip’s have begun cooking at our annual Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner. The men are also instrumental in keeping St. Philip’s in such good physical condition.
